Best piece of networking advice I've heard yet: "Two is one. One is none."


In other words: if your equipment isn't redundant (i.e. two routers, two ISPs, two firewalls, etc) then you have a vulnerable design. Yes, it's more expensive to have at least two of everything, but if that single point of failure goes down, who gets called to fix it?

You do. And it'll be at 3:00 AM. And naturally it will need to be fixed immediately.
